CONTINENTAL CONQUEST is a post-holocaust game of vehicle and convoy combat in the tradition of Mad Max. After a world plague destroys civilization, only the Clans remain, using their knowledge of technology and vehicles to take command of the survivors. Each player controls one or more convoys of several types (Land, Sea, Amphibious, Air, and Military) and uses them to conquer territory and cities, trade goods, and increase the power of his Clan. Cities can be enhanced with buildings, convoys with Expert Clansmen, and terrain with custom structures. As cities are conquered and grow in population, they provide more income which is used to buy these enhancements or more and larger convoys.
Want to see the rules? The complete rulebook is available online! Simply click CC Rulebook to download the Microsoft Word version. A text form is also available, but lacks certain charts and tables. Note: The Word version was written on the Macintosh, but can be read by Word for Windows. Some of the graphics may not import depending on your version of Word and the converters you have installed. All graphics are, however, based on segments of the map which can be downloaded below.
Each game is played on one of four maps: America, Europe, Oceania, or Britain. All of these are huge multi-page maps with plenty of territory to explore and conquer. Maps are not available online at present, but we hope to provide them shortly.
- The America map includes all of North America south of Edmonton, all of Central America and the Caribbean, and the northwest tip of South America. Most of the cities on the map are in the United States area, but curiously this doesn't guarantee that anyone in that area will win (in fact, no one in the Northeast has ever won). We usually try to fit 15 or 16 players on this map with 10 of them in the US/Canada area.
- The European map covers all of Europe, the very top edge of North Africa, the northern Middle East, and Iceland. This is a very balanced map with cities spread throughout the continent in as even a fashion as possible. This map can support up to 24 players.
- The Oceania map includes the Far East, Australia, all the Pacific islands, Hawaii, and the southwestern edge of Alaska. This map is extremely sparse, with most cities on the Asian continent or Australia. No more than 8 or 9 players can fit here and anyone starting in Hawaii or New Zealand has a difficult challenge. This makes an excellent custom map or team game (three players in Australia and three in Asia, for example).
- The Britain map includes the United Kingdom of Great Britain (England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland) plus the northern tip of France and the western edge of Norway, with enough room for 12-15 players to participate in a game. This map was completed the first week in May 1996 and includes special rules for a new map feature, Ferry Routes. Using a ferry route, land and military convoys can quickly transfer across bodies of water (at a high dollar cost), but only along established, neutral routes.
